The Rain song (2000)

This song starts with the sound of hands drumming on a wall. I recorded one of the dancers who was just let loose in the recording booth. I asked him to use his hands in any way he wanted. Scraping, clawing, banging...whatever. I cut out short fragments and looped them as to make various rhythms. From that point I introduced the voice and gradually transformed the sound until rain was pouring down all over the theatre. It is originally an Arabic traditional song and to be honest it has nothing whatsoever to do with rain. Just my head creating the connection.

Vocals by Mireille Leblanc.
